The Elon Musk—Twitter Takeover Saga: A Multi-Country Sentiment Analysis of Twitter Users
From March 1st to April 27th 2022, Elon Musk went from criticizing Twitter, to buying out the company. We analyzed over 4 million tweets during the 8-week period to study various sentiments about the takeover expressed by users on the platform.

In her independently published piece in Economics of Transition and Institutional Change, Digital Planet Research Analyst Abidemi Adisa delves into the oft-accepted claim that the centralized power installed by the regime was a driver of economic development. Using a Synthetic Control Method, a statistical analysis tool to compare case studies, Adisa finds that the opposite is the case: potential economic output fell well below what was expected prior to the centralized power, with a loss of about $4,000 in potential GDP per capita.

The International Monetary Fund's Working Paper examines the role of Fintech in financial inclusion. Correlated with the Digital Inclusion Index's data, the paper concludes that greater use of fintech significantly narrows class and rural divides but has no impact on gender divide. The findings imply the need for targeted policy initiatives aimed at addressing the gender gap directly.
